Interior Boot Button | Alarm? Interior Light?

Right having removed the interior panels and seats from my ph1 172, I have come across a bit of a problem that's bugging me. Had a little search but couldn't seem to fine anything.

The button that is held shut when the boot is closed? What is it for?

As I've removed the panel where the button is held in place. If I leave it, and lock the car, the alarm goes off in a few minutes. So ATM I've got it taped so it can be closed when the boot is shut.

I've also tried taping the button closed and it still happens.

Any help be great.

It needs to be released and working properly for it too understand when it's opened and closed. Just mount it in another location.
