In car active subwoofers

I'm looking for a couple of under seat subwoofers for a friend. He asked me to look into it for him since he's working but I know nothing about these types of subs.
He wants 2, one for passenger side and one for drivers side. Can anyone shed some light on these and also is having 2 deemed pointless?
If you have any info on specific ones that you have heard/used before and links to them that would be great.

I have an Alpine one under my passenger seat. Quality wise not as good as the Vibe setup I had in the boot but gives a nice fill.

An acceptable substitute though?

Also I presume that unit can run from powered speaker cables rather than just RCA, but do you lose your rear speakers by doing that?

underseat woofers aren't all that much cop really are they?

Money could be better spent in using heavyweight 6.5" components and a decent amplifier instead.

If it's a clio, you could even just use normal-sized front speakers and use 6.5" mid-bass woofers in the rear pods instead, rigging the amp under the passenger seat.

EDIT: Personally I use a Pioneer amplified tube, it can be annoying if I'm loading the car to the brim with stuff, but it cost £200 10 years ago and never skipped a beat.

I have power from the battery and rca cables from the headunit but as far as I know you can run off speaker cables too.

In retrospect I wouldn't bother with the underseat sub, I would get some good comps in the front and amp them up.

Are there any passive under seat subwoofer recommendations? As I'd want two rather than one, and running from a standalone amp in the boot, also running components

not really, underseat stuff is mostly put together for adding to stocck systems with minimal fuss.

If Tarquin wants to add mo bass to his Range Rover etc. without losing rooms for shotguns and dogs

a set of these in the rear 'door' cards, coupled to a decent amp, and well fitted would be decent.

better than the underseats anyway, and you'll always have your components up front for treble and mid

Is there a cheaper alternative to sound deadening. I know dynamite and secondskin are the main brands

But very expensive

you wont use all of it.

and if you're looking to make a stripped-out featherweight y0! machine, then you can start by removing the entire sound system and save a few KG.

True, I'm not looking To make it a stripped out pocket rocket, I want all the extras, but am a bit of an audiophile and wouldn't mind experiencing good quality sound in my Clio, but obviously adding weight effects performance, looking for a compromise at some point

I've been recommended by a local audio specialist to try these:

(
that's his site) But you can get them for much less on amazon!

They are apparently exactly the same as the Focal version but at a fraction of the price :)

Has anyone else got any knowledge on this? There is an 8 and a 10 inch which look exactly the same (here's the 10 inch: http://www.hifi-tower.co.uk/Auna-10-Compact-Active-Car-Subwoofer-250W_i1379.htm )from a co called Auna (who I've never heard of) which is £100 less than its focal counterpart.

Does anyone know what the deal is? Are all 3 companys subs the same with different branding?

Also, would it fit under the driver seat of a ph2 clio?

Cheers!!
