My ph1 172 has a lovely idle issue after cleaning the throttle body, it fluctuates between 1-3k rpm on idle sometimes, or if it wants to be a lovely car the idle will stick at around 3-3.5k rpm.
Thankfully I have a really nice Snap On dealer as a neighbour, so borrowed his Modis. Plugged it in and ran the code reader, it threw up an Error 34 - Stepper Motor Speed Control (ISC). So I'm assuming that's my Idle Control Valve that has killed over and died, and its time for a new one.
Yes this is a pretty blatant answer but just wanted to check, and might help others with the same issue.
