So you took a Renault, which requires specialist locking tools to have the cambelt done, to an Audi garage? No one else here not suprised its not right?

Take it back and make them sort it! Take a "guide" with you to show them how to do it, im sure there's one on here somewhere.

Deffo take straight back to them dont let anybody touch it or they can argue their not ar fault sounds like timing issues

  It's A Reno
Sounding like a diesel usually means dephaser. That would be unlucky if that's failed. How long has the engine run for since the repair?

You dont have to go to renault for your belts doing any competant mechanic can do them and they will have tools required
But IIRC the locking tools are Renault specific? So Audi wouldn't just have them lying around I doubt.

Hope you get it sorted mate.

^ Not true.

Specialist locking tools required to do a proper job.

It's do-able without, but you're taking a big risk.

Where in the post does it say doable without tools required i am pointing out that it isnt only renault garages that have them jeesus it aint brain surgery

What he's trying to say, is that without going out and buy SPECIFIC Renault tools, it is not possible to do the job properly.

So any average garage would have to go out and buy specific tools, as they more than likely don't already have them, and 99% of garages won't want to do that, so just bodge it, and hope that its right.

I'm sure Audi wouldn't fancy spending like £80 on some tools for a job they may never do again, and is only earning them £400 minus parts....

99% of garages dont bodge your car and £80 not exactly a fortune for an audi spesh speshly on a 400 quid return remember theres tons of clios on the road and everybody aint goin to renault

I didn't want to clog up this thread, but I can't resist but disagree...

Parts for a full cam and aux belt KIT are going to be some where in the reigon of £150-175, the job, taking roughly say 4-5 hours, leaves only 225ish profit, so taking away the £80 leaves £145 meaning the garage is only earning £145 for having someone work on the car for x amount of time.

I'm also pretty sure 99% of Audi garages don't have Renault Sport's driven in there every day, most people will take it to Renault, a specialist, or an independant over another random manufacturer.

got it all sorted guys thanx for your advice just to let you know that thay have the cam locking tools as thay have done other clio's as im new to the clio's i was in a panic about the sound of the cams when i got the car back.

as i thought when i got the ph1 172 the guy i got if off told me a load of s**t:mad: that he had done all servising him self ie:cam belt, oil, filter ect .... so to day was my day off work so i whent in and was gearing my self you for a shouting match with the guys that had done the work. so i start her up and she was puring like a kitten like must have dremped it all up !!! but after 6-8 mins of tick over she started taping her tits off !!. so i checked the oil and low and behold it was blacker than the ace of spades and like water !! uuummmmm thats not good i thought so i nipped down the road in the bosses shed of a golf got me a new filter and 10/40 semi oil for the grand total of £25 (trade discounts) so i droped the oil out had a fight getting the old filter off replaced with nice new stuff.

WOW what a differents now !!!! she now sounds lovely :D

erm, more like £150 for the correct tools from renault, and non genuine aren't worth thier weight in scrap.

Jason, glad it's sounding better with an oil change, any more problems just get Adey to give me a shout ;)
