I keep wanting a v6

  Trophy Turbo :)
Why is it that i keep going through the i need a V6 Clio in my life stages? Is it because i am getting old and as the wife says having a midlife!!!

Does any one else keep getting these vibes? I really like the phase 1 v6 but the v6 phase 2 is a better car

If you can afford one, now is the time to buy. In the last year the prices have shot up and showing no signs of slowing.

LOL @ HMS :)

I feel a 500Bhp v6 may kill me, id have to get the Sig WilkyWay to drive :)

Its a bug i have and that i think i need to sort out, you hear people saying there not as much fun as a 172 but id love to drive one properly, ive driven several for customers but in a normal manner :)

They arnt that bad of an engine lol

Turbo / supercharged has been tried and tried again and always ends up failing. Heat management is also a huge issue back there.

I wouldn't actually want much more power out of the car, on a twisty B road it's got just about the right amount in my book.

The thing is, they feel special at 10mph, and they manage to feel absolutely nothing like a clio at all, yes so the dashboard etc is the very same. That's pretty much where it ends for similarity.

My Brother-in-law just bought a phase 1.

Completely impractical to drive, which is half the fun as the car is bonkers!

Apart from the lack of shopping space (and passenger space if you have more than one) how are they impractical?

+1 it's amazing what you can get in them, I've had 6 asda bags behind the seats and 3 more in the front storage tray! Weekly shop, done!

Weekend away there with luggage etc for 2, washing equipment etc and a tool kit. No problems at all.

Full lock is ridiculous, and standard height speed bumps are hell!

I'm not slating the car, I think it's awesome. Just feedback I've heard since he's owned it over the last week.

I wasn't saying you were being negative, I just didn't know about them being impractical. The lock I can imagine is a pain. Especially in some of the car parks round here. That said, If I had a v6 it couldn't go to some of the car parks round here as the spaces are so small

Do it, but I warn in advance, these feelings never leave. So many of them become keepers!

If you prefer the phase one, go for it. They are basically the same car with the same rewarding ownership experience.

Fantastic cars, hold their value & relatively cheap to own.

I want one too... :)....but a mint one cost a way too much in LHD version...time to hit the jackpot :)

I work off the plan that's it's better to regret something you have done than regret something you haven't

I very nearly owned one a couple of years back, I was the second highest bidder on ebay, told the seller that if he gets any trouble off the buyer I would buy it. He said that the buyer was in France so I could have it at my top bid which was £7,100 or £7,400 delivered. I thought long and hard and couldn't do it as it would have emptied my bank account. I still really want one but don't think I could sell my Escort RS Turbo, I've had it for too long and spent far too much money on it, plus they are also creeping up in value. Maybe one day if I'm in he right place at the right time!

The days of cheap ones are gone imo.
I remember when shoddy Mk1's were £7500 & decent ones went down to about £9k. Thankfully that's a thing of the past

Good lad!
I love mine, so much fun. Took it to work today in fact and at every stop people stare and smile and say how cool it is, most rewarding car to own in that sense than anything I've ever been in/owned.

Wait till you get, that's nice mate - how long did it take you to make it look like that?

Just get one and even if it's not your daily just keep it for years, the price will probably just go up after a good few years, if see it as a good investment.

  Ph1 Clio V6, Ph2 172
Comparing them to 1*2's is pretty damn stupid. They are completly different concepts. I was driving into the center of London monday night in my 172 thinking just how much I wanted to be in my ph1. As stated in previous posts, you don't need to do any more than 30mph to enjoy them. However, don't listen to the crap that they are disappointing when you open up the taps. Yes you cant throw them about if you drive them half assed or like a typical fwd hot hatch. They are far more rewarding to drive swiftly than a piss easy fwd hatch. If I had the keys to either my clio's with a track in front of me, I'd take the vee 90% of the time. The other 10% would be the days I just want to bugger about.
Don't buy one to turbo/supercharge. They really don't require it and although not impossible, all parts will one off and it'll be a big build. All good fun though. Ive ditched the old reno lump for a 2.7 biturbo audi lump and gearbox. This will give 450+ reliable hp. Worth it?? No!!!! They are great cars as standard.

  Ph1 172.
I sold mine Wednesday last week. I'm going to regret that for a while. At least it has found a new place to live out its days in the hills, mountains and fjords of Sweden!

Utterly fantastic cars. I love every second of mine and if I had the money I'd have another tomorrow. People were a mix of either thinking i'd built it myself or knowing what it was and wanting to just have a chat and a nose around it. I regularly came out of Tesco to see people taking photos of it or peering around. My girlfriend didn't like being a passenger just due to the amount of looks she said it got. Driving wise it was completely different to my 172. You could feel the extra weight it carried around (nearly 400kg) it didn't feel as nimble, but it certainly made driving much more of an event. The engine rumbling and then howling as you pressed on was brilliant. It felt much more 'planted' and I really in 2 years of driving came to believe the Phase 1 didn't really deserve its reputation as a 'widow maker'. In the dry you had more grip than you'd almost ever need on a road. In the wet, you could still drive briskly, but more cautiously, just like any car.
