HPI check, doesn't quite add up.

  Abarth 595
Just done an HPI check in prep for a viewing tonight and the engine size is stated as two different sizes.

Vehicle description:

Body plan 3 Door Hatchback
Colour SILVER
Gearbox
Number of colour changes 0
Last colour change date
Year manufactured 2005

But then further down the HPI check:
Vehicle description

Fuel PETROL
Colour SILVER
Transmission MANUAL
Number of gears 5
Engine make RENAULT CARS
Year manufactured 2005

Number of seats 5

  Listerine & Poledo
Could be that it was a "replica" that then had a 2.0 put in it.
But that would be both pointless to do, and worthless to buy.
Given that Clios are 2-a-penny, just look at another one that doesn't have an identity crisis. No matter what you think makes this one special, there'll be one as or more special about 5 minutes further away,

Can't see if you've attached an image or not, but:

Clio Sport 1.2 16V is a model, as is Renault Sport Clio

Sounds like you are HPI'ing a Clio Sport 1.2 16V which would be correct.

Have you seen images of the car to make you intitially think it's a 182 (perhaps a rep as mentioned)

Spoke to HPI guys on chat, they said the first part is correct and apparently the second part is what is supplied by Renault but its not always correct and just the closest description.

In fairness, my old 172 showed up as a Megane Diesel on all the search boxes on Kwik Fit, Confused.com etc.

It can happen. Probably got imported on Bastille day

  PH2 RS172
most insurance companies / reg checkers struggle to differentiate between a renault clio sport and a renault sport clio. ive spent valuable years wasting time on the phone while they try to figure out what car it is because it comes up as 1.2 not a 2.0 :)

  182 Inferno
Hmm, I'm not sure with that one, but my HPI check, temp car insurers and even my V5 don't have the model of my 182 on, it just said Renault Clio.
HPI also thinks its a saloon...

I've yet to work it out, but my insurance with Greenlight know the model, so I'm happy with that!

I have to ask, where did you get the HPI check from? Was it from Experian, RAC or HPI or some el cheapo place?

Finally, do you have the reg? Being a public forum you can forward me this via PM.

Before buying it I would check the logbook out TBH.

It was Experian. I bought the car and its definitely a 182. Got the new logbook and its confirmed.
