How to find out who owns a domain name?

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to find out who actually owns a domain name? Thanks

Different for .co.uk and .com

Nominet for the UK

WhoIs for COM

Erm,
You can whois any domain, providing the tld has a whois service.

whois domain.com

or

whois domain.co.uk

or

whois domain.net

etc. etc. You get the point

If you don't have access to a whois command line tool, just use one of the many whois web services - google for "whois"
