My Clio Cup, has a wallet loads of receipts and MoT's but no service book, didn't bother me too much on a car like this, made sure cam belt had been changed etc. I've subsequently had it checked out by a specialist and got the thumbs up from them. I'll be keeping it properly looked after and keeping all the receipts. It's being turned into a track car anyway so i just wanted something solid and it was the right price. Obviously if it's got no history it should be priced accordingly.

I think anyone into their cars probably wouldn't buy it, but your average car buyer wouldn't be too concerned (probably use it to get the car cheap). I think if it was a more sporty model you may have a bit more trouble selling it..
I bought a car in the past that only had the logbook and mot cert with it, it was fine and sold it six months later for what we paid for it (oh and the woman that bought it off us had it for 3 years without any problems)...
Get it advertised it will sell, I think with cars that are in good condition and clean have the battle selling them is getting someone to look in the first place.
Once someone views it, if it is good it will sell. We've all spent time driving round looking for a good condition car of a certain model and arrived to see a car that's advertised as good condition in a crappy state..

Service history is definitely a major advantage, however it wouldnt put me off buying a car.... if i viewed a car without service history and after a brief inspection and a quick drive i believed it to be sound then i would take a punt! I would knock the seller down on price for it and probably get things like belts done just for piece of mind.

I bought mine with very little service history, a few recipets. At the end of the day its only a Clio, and you should be able to tel based on condition if its been looked after.

Its a plus, i personally would only want a car that shows service history, theres no excuse not to have any really.
Fair enough if you do your own i think thats great, but it makes sence to keep reciepts of the service items/things youve bought etc
I have a file with all mot certs, tax renewal letter's with old tax discs, service sheets along with the book stamped, basically everything down to reciepts for bulbs ive bought.this may sound silly to some people but imo its silly not to keep it all, it takes 2 seconds to file a piece of paper. Its also a good feeling knowing and seeing proofe of everythong youve bought for your pride and joy, i dont ever plan on selling my car so its nothing to do with thinking about when its time to sell on, its just something i personaly like to have for myself
