How do I restore my iPhone 4S from a backup of my 3GS?

I have just synced my new iPhone 4S with an old backup of my 3GS (Unintentionally) and was wondering if i could sync it again with a different backup.

In the old iTunes there used to be the option to restore from backup, but now it's only letting me restore from the 5.1 update which downloads from iTunes.

Help would be much appreciated, merry Christmas!

Restore it back to fresh. Then it will give you the option of restoring it with your choice of backup.

Thought this would be my only option, didn't want to wait 3 hours to download the update..

Surely a 4s has the new software anyway?

It does, but when you restore, it downloads a clean version of the software.

Actually ignore me, cos it won't have a copy on the computer yet.
