How can I attach a tool to this?

I want to measure the amount of torque needed to turn the rack but without weld skillz Im a little lost. Will be using a beam style torque wrench.

This socket just goes on but it spins. Dont have any imperial sockets to try.

Not sure how well it would grip it but possibly one of these.

Worth a shot, will buy one (y)

what interesting stuff are you up to now?

This in particular is just to get a reference as to how much pre load renault use on their racks from the factory. Then when the racks machined for the bigger bolts, I can build up the quick ratio gearing and have a ball park figure to use. Not majorly important to do this but it wont hurt! I am slightly worried this is all going to be a waste of time (not to my expectations) But I remember the steering being incredible so having a brand new rack and all the bushings/bearings along with the gearing I think it should be good.
