Home made induction kit in hot weather

Well, been for a long drive out in the peaks with temps of about 31c. Usually in this sort of weather the car feels sluggish. Today, with my DIY IK, it was absolutely superb. The 3 air feed pipes under the car seem to be able to keep the kit cool. When I stop driving, the aluminum heat shield is only slightly warm, whereas the engine is boiling hot. Even the bonnet above the kit is cool too. Throttle response was as good as usual. The only time theres any hesitation is when setting off from a complete standstill. Provided Im doing a few mph, the airflow up the pipes is sufficient to keep a good supply of ambient air.

See pic below for location of filter - I thoroughly recommend this as a location for an IK. Coming soon - home made PiperX Viper! :devilish:

How are you making the viper? what are you using?

kick that foglight out mate ya know it makes sense

hehe nice one mate ! i resorted to putting my standard air box with a ram air filter inside and i hooked up a big 70mm aluminium hose fed it from the air box right under the car near the bumper.

Last night i got my girlfriend to rev the car and i put my hand over the front of the hose and it sucked my hand in lol , so its definatly well sealed!

My next mission is to mod the air box with 1 or 2 more air feeds , has anyone already done this to there valver airbox , if so id like to see pics !

I dont really think he cares...

See the 172 is his car he drives for work, but then he has a bike engined Westfield track car and an ex Ford Motorsport Group A Escort Cossie Rally car parked in his large garage!!!

He used to have a 350+bhp Evo VI too, but sold that last year and bought the Westfield instead.

This boy really likes his cars! ;)
