great purchase, Im extremely jealous actually as it seems a lot of other people in this thread are,

I imagine you probably offered 1500 quid, which would be the purchase of the year!!!

I know its not nice to think but if it ever got written off I can imagine the insurance atleast paying out £5-6k PLUS, you really cant lose with this one

Epic mileage. I thought mine was pretty high at 42k when I sold it at 2 and a half years old.

Are you for real!? The lad has just got the bargain of the century for very little money, and you're moaning about f**king swirls!? How much would it be for a good paint correction, £200? Picky or what!

full respray ffs would be less than £2k... you could replace every bit of the car that's worn and still have a £15k car for less than £10k! and that would be back in showroom condition....

I see what youre trying to get at but it's not worth £15k or even £10k is it even if it was mint with low/average miles.


Still a good buy though IMO and interested to await the photos; it has the potential to be as clean and tidy as a car with "normal" miles on.

my point is that showroom condition means brand new - they were £15k brand new. You could have a brand new car for £10k.... ok the body shape is '05 but the mechanicals and bodyworkk would be new.

I'm not saying it not a good price but "bargin of the century" is going too far.

This car needs money spending on it and is more likely to need it going forward.

Ok £1900 purchase price but it sounds like it needs a service, exhaust and dampers sorting. Also no one yet knows how much the dampers will be. It costs just less than £600 all in to have the done on a 20-70k car but at 170k there could be much more wrong. I spoke to BG before buying my Trophy and they said other stuff can be wrong that puts the price up.

I think you have to look at this as a £3500 at least and at that price you could have a good 172 Cup with half the mileage. Yes 2 years older but that dunt mean much.

I suppose time will tell if its a good buy or not. Everything could be fine and good luck to the guy, but I see it as a gamble.

And for the comments about a Trophy should be driven and not detailed well 1 its pretty easy to do both and 2 grow up and stop finding soft arguments to insult people who happen to have a different opinion.

But you've obviously missed the fact that the Trophy is 5 or 6 times the road car the Cup is. And THAT is worth the £3500 on it's own.

It beggars belief that people are calling a high mileage £3500 Trophy expensive. I hope re-entry isn't painful...

I said it is a good buy just not the bargin of the century.

Its a fair price for a gamble.

And the Trophy is not 5 or 6 times the car the cup is.

Its better but not by a massive margin.

As you so elequantly put, try reading what I put.

The Trophy is EASILY 5 or 6 times the ROAD car the Cup is. Or your dampers are fucked. The Cup just can't manage with the B-roads, the suspension isn't set up for it. The Trophy just swallows it up.

Dont talk crap!!

A 172 Cup manages B roads almost as well.

The Trophy is the best MK2 but that dunt mean the others are poor.

I have driven both and have owned a 172 with Cup mods on it (Obv as well as the Trophy) and have to say Mike is talking crap! Bellend. The Trophy is EASILY 6 to 7 times better not 5 to 6.

I am not joking, I was very sceptical of the Trophy being alot better when I got it, ask Mat! But it's awesome. I love it.

There is some nonsense written on this thread tbh. Are you determined to knock the shine off of his good fortune for him?

The lad can't lose. Few £K on parts, service and a detail inc, de-swirl and he's made.
If he writes it off...win, if something major blows and he strips it for parts...win.
If none of the above happens....win.

For 2k who cares about the mileage its an awesome car, I could sell my 1.2 for more than that and buy it just wish I could afford the ins on the trophy :dapprove:

At the very worst you could spend a bit of cash on it and a few weekends and sell it on for a £3K profit.

Anyone on here who would turn down a sub £2K Trophy are talking nonsense.

I would buy it today, possibly kill it by tomorrow and I wouldn't care, such an awesome oppertunity imo
