Help required please on my 182

  Q7 and 182
Good evening guys,

Huts wondered if I could pick someone's brain about an issue that occoured to me today whilst I was driving my car home.

Basically drove the car around the town for about 1 hour they'd as I set off for home on the back roads the car died on me, I had not noticed any warning lights related to the bat appear before this incident happened. As it went I then got my other car to the spot where she broke down and tried to bump start her as the battery car completely dead, but when I connected the jump leads from my healthy car to the 182 smoke began to bellow from the alternator. I'm thinking that the alternator is fooked but just wondered if any of you hand came across this before and I'm maybe overlooking something here.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Matt

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
I seem to remember a few threads around smoking alternators and no surprises they all needed alternators

If you do need one its quite an expensive fix around £300 -
you would need a new alternator and full aux belt kit - make sure a specialist does it-

Yep, the alternator will be fucked. It happened to mine out of the blue with no warning. It also stunk the car out.
