help laptop is fooked

i need to get my laptop sorted i think the harddrive is fucked because windows doesnt load up and it keeps restarting or resettting itself, is it possible to transfer my files onto an external harddrive even though the curretn one is buggered and also will any specialist pc repair shop(apart from PC world) be able to do this?

if its the registry fucked then if you get an adapter to make the laptop hdd into a normal HDD can add it onto a normal pc usb and transfer onto that pc.

but if its the HDD actually fucked, probly not.

altho im nt a techno geek, so i might be wrong.

Have you trying getting a can of air and blowing it out.This happened to mine and thats all it was,getting to hot,worth a try.

well i "dropped" the laptop and ever since it doesnt load up.

i was told i could get a convertor to transfer the files onto a pc but it doesnt help that i dont have a pc. Maybe a specialist could do it?

Don't need a "specialaist" to put a new hard drive in, it's easy. As long as you know how to reinstall windows etc.
Then if the new hard drive works, just hook the old one up to your laptop via one of those usb things.

Hmmm sounds easier said than done especially when i havent a clue about PCs and laptop apart from switching them on.

Again would use a mates pc but as above clueless

im sure you could google it dude about changing a HDD?
probly a guide that tell you exactly how.

installing windows is dead easy, totaly intuitive, talks you all the way through in common sence. altho there will be guides on net for it.

and as said once you get new hdd working, buy a usb thing and try get stuff off the old HDD

You could get a CD based operating system like knoppix. Then backup files etc. to a usb drive, then swap the hard drive. It's usually just windows that is screwed.

Can you get to a command prompt? Run chkdsk /f and see if the hard drive is faulty.

Probably what I would advise, download Ubuntu 7.04 its easy to use and you can then transfer your files to a USB hard drive.

if the laptop keeps restarting itself then it probably isn't the hard drive that is fooked.
