Heater Not Working

  Renault Clio MK 1
Hi,

I've got a Renault Clio Mk1 1998 1.2

The internal heating does not work.

I have checked the fuses etc. but they are fine.

The dials (fan speed etc.) twist but feel a little stuck sometimes like it is trying to activate something but it can't.

Only cold air comes through the fans when I'm driving but not because the motor is blowing it, it trickles through due to the cold wind outside.

I have check the pipes under the bonnet that go into the bulkhead which carry the water to the heater component and they don't seem to have water in them.

Really not sure what to do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Ok - if nothing but cold air comes out of your vents you need to check

In order

A - water level in header tank
B - Thermostat
C - Air lock in cooling system
D - heater matrix ( will be blocked )

The pipes that go into the bulkhead - are they hot once the engines been running for 5 mins ??

Does the heater motor work ? does it only work on a high setting ?

A - check the heater reostat ( this controls current going to the motor )
B - check the heater control panel
C - check the heater motor
D - check the control flaps to see if there opening to let air in once youve turned the directional control
