hand brake adjustment

hi all, ive tried searching and cant find any info on adjusting the handbrake on a mk2 172 53 plate, mot time is looming and i want too adjust it, how many clicks until it fails??

there will be an adjuster either under the plastic cover of the handbrake, or it'll be under the car

4clicks and your handbrake should be fully on
