Gearboxes that fit Ph2 172

Can someone tell me what gearboxes will fit in my 2002 speedo driven 172 ?

Reason I ask is I have heard that various gearboxes fit.

Does anyone know if a JB1 Diesel gearbox (kangoo van etc) will fit ?
As I'm guessing they see more torque than there petrol counterparts.

I have also seen a couple of 182 non Speedo drive gearboxes, since my 172 has ABS would this enable the speed to be picked up that way ?
or do I need to replace like for like ?

If your car is a speedo drive phase 2 it will need a speedo drive box to go back in.
All Ph1 had ABS as well but that didnt stop them needing a speedo sender.

Im sure its possible to retrofit the ABS driven side of things to your car but it wont just work automatically if you remove the speedo sender box.

Ph1 box will fit, the JB ones will as well but I found I broke those quicker than the JC boxes so Im personally unconvinced they are any stronger.

Its possible to put your speedo front end onto a non speedo box.

Ph1 box has a taller FD, if you want the gearing to stay the same then you can only use an early ph2 box as a direct fit, nothing else Im aware of is identical.

Thats what i thought about none speedo drive boxes.
Taller final drive doesn't bother me.
Cheers for the input regarding JB boxes.
I better get looking for a JC5 box I guess.
