gearbox oil change interval?

Can someone tell me what the gearbox oil change interval is in years/miles for a 182?

depends how much trashing you give the car. Track days cars it would be worth changing more often. Every 2 years I do now, depending on how many track days I've done. It's cheap to do, and quick, so why not? Especially as the JC5 does like to fall to bits

the level or the oil?

Level check, all you do is remove the wing nut on the front of the box when the car is on the flat. The oil should be up to the bottom of the fill hole.

What grade oil is needed?

75w80 or 75w90 synthetic are the usual.
