Quite a few members have gone from a ph1 to a trophy, and loved the trophy.

Have yot thought about getting a set of coliovers set up properly on your 172, and keeping that?

Went from a PH2 172 to a Trophy. Massive step up, far higher cornering speeds, better steering, more composure. I'm quite close to the OP (Harborne Birmingham), you're welcome to come have a look over the car and I'll take you out in it.

I considered one of them, any good as a track car??

which one the ph1 or the mini neither has been on the track but i can imagine which would be more fun a standard ph1 172 or a 1964 mk1 850 with a bored out 997 cooper engine with uprated pistons, crank, flywheel, conrods, vavles-springs and MASSIVE modified head all helping to achieve nearly 100bhp:evil:

the only down side its still got drums all round:(

well youve got lots of power then but no brakes. supose you could always use the walls or crash barriers they do work well

I went from a Mk1 172 to a Trophy, also have a mini amongst other things so we have something in common. Happy to answer any questions.

As posted above Matt, you're more than welcome to have a look/ride in the Trophy.

Well a Trophy is a significant step up from the 182 with cup packs, especially when negotiating some fast roads in Wales.

And I presume the 182 with cup packs is a significant step up from the PH1 172, so yes, buy a Trophy before it becomes too difficult to find a low mileage example with warranty remaining.

I was under the impression from Yozza/etc that the ph1 172 was the best handling out of the 172/182 range (cup pack or not) until the Trophy came along!
