Fitted Powerflex dog bone - couple of questions

They weren't joking when they said it vibrates the s**t out of you lol!

When slowing down I can hear a bit of a whining noise from the gearbox I assume. Is that normal when having super stiff mounts?

Also, does the vibrating ever get less fierce or do you just stop noticing it?

Dogbone shouldn't be massively noticeable if paired with standard engine and gearbox mounts... Should just be more reactive on and off the throttle.

Only difference I noticed after fitting mine (on two different 172s) was a noticeable thud as the engine started. That's not a bang or a knock, just a more violent start up if that makes sense.

It vibrated for a few 100 miles but now it's calmed down completely. It was never really that bad in the first place. Yeah you can tell something is different, but it doesn't wobble the interior mirror or anything daft

I get a whining noise from my box since fitting vibratechnics engine and gearbox mounts along with an evol (black/race) dog bone mount. Not sure if this is down to the mounts or not (hoping it is). As far as vibrations go it really isn't that bad. I did have a Powerflex dog bone fitted but it was gash compared to the evol.

I also fitted uprated engine and gearbox mounts and get the exact same whine whilst slowing down or speeding up, just cruising along in 4th or 5th and I can hear it. Pretty sure it's just vibration / increased noise as it's been this way for around 4 months now and it hasn't changed.

Mine vibrates the mirror when revving! I can feel it through the steering wheel and seats at idle too.

Gash how?

In all seriousness, what's the difference between the Evol and the Powerflex one once fitted?

Yeah you will for a few 100 miles. Give it time. You can't say it's not improved the gear change 100%? Give it time and it'll settle. I've done the same mod on all cars I've owned, Clio or not. Makes a world of difference

What's the black Evol like ,is it too harsh for road use?

I've not once said anything bad about it lol, I think it's transformed the gear change for me. Better launches too.

Sorry pal didn't mean to come across as though I was slating the Powerflex dog bone.. It's a massive improvement over the standard mount but as my car is more focused to track use it didn't offer enough engine stability or support for me as I was still getting a bit of engine rocking/movement on hard acceleration and gear changes. For road use its bang on and like others have said the vibrations will calm down. The evol (black) dog bone mount pretty much elimates all engine movement/rocking back and forth due to it pretty much being just a solid bar.

To be honest I didn't notice a massive difference in vibrations over the Powerflex dog bone mount. I don't use the car very often on the road but for me it is acceptable for road use and the benefits far outweigh the cons.

I was only messing, was genuinely interested as I've considered that Evol one too! Cheers for the response :)

There worlds apart.. For road use the Powerflex is highly regarded as it offers big improvement over the standard mount and I couldn't fault it with the little time I used it on the road but once I'd gone on track I soon realised it wasn't copping with the increased demands of harder acceleration and gear changes and that's when I noticed how much the engine was rocking. This Evol pretty much completely elimates all engine movement back and forth as it's practically a solid bar. The Powerflex, although there hard polyurethane bushes they still do compress slightly giving room for engine movement still.
