extra bhp with performance air filter and exhaust on an X Reg 1.6 16v Clio RSI

Hi.

Bought myself an X Reg Clio 1.6 16V RSI recently. The car is far as I am aware is standard. I was wondering if putting a performance air filter and an M.O.T friendly performance exhaust will make any difference BHP wise ? Or will a remap/new ecu n=be needed as well ?

If it does. Then what type of filter and exhaust would you recommend?

filter and exhaust will not really give any gain, maybe feel a little more responsive. Would recomend prospeed exhaust andand ITG panbel filter.

Remap again probably wouldnt give much of a noticeable gain by itself, but improved driveability.

Decat or sports cat(sports cat being mot friendly) would be a better gain, making the car rev more freely. I had a decat on my 1.6 8v and felt much quicker.

To see real gains you need to goto cams and maybe headwork aswell!

Thanx duckeatspork. Noticed on your avatar picture you have a dual pipe back box. What type of exhaust system do you have?

Its a custom system. 2" bore cat back exhaust, small centre expansion chamber, and 2 back boxes. Going to be changing that to a single back box with letterbox style exit

Nice. :approve: I do like the look of the dual exhaust back box on the clio.
May pay a visit to ABP in Shavington one Saturday about an ITG filter and what type of exhaust they have.
