Exhaust popping with standard cat?

My exhaust popped twice today as if it was burning
unspent fuel, thing is I have a standard cat?

I've often thought I heard it doing this but just ignored
and put it down to having a loud exhaust, (GDI/Piper Stealth)

Anyone know why it would pop with a standard cat?

Have u recently changed to 95 ron? Mines has a decat it seems to pop more now I thought it was changed to 95 ron again

No, I always use 97 ron as the car runs like sh1t if I use normal fuel,
i've always thought that pops and bangs were normal with decats.

My previous 1.2 clio use to pop and bang all the time with a standard cat. Had an aftermarket exhaust though

Mines seems to be popping more thought it was a change in the weather or the fact it's done 5000 miles now

Do you have a after market exhausts with standard cat?

Aftermarket with decat but it never used to pop when it was hot

The exhaust was blowing last MOT from mani to cat but that was all
sealed up, i'll have a look at it but the pops were coming from the back
not from under the car.

My 1st ever car a fiesta 1.1 L reg had a broken cat it sounded excellent lol
