Exhaust inlet size?

I want to buy a cherry bomb back box for my MK2 PH2, but i'm unsure of what inlet size to order?

Could anyone tell me what size would be most suitable?

I would also like a response to this as I am getting a replacement peco backbox. I know my current magnex system is 2.5 inch, 63.5mm diameter. However is this the diameter of the original phase 2 system or is the magnex slightly bigger???? I've never known because it was on the car when I bought it.

will you be fitting it yourself or taking it to an exhaust place?

i think the 172 system is 2.25 or 2.5 as standard - get a inlet size similar to this then ask the exhaust place to fit it, they will sort it.
