Elf oil on eBay...

  Track 172 Cup
@oilman should be able too answer your question best. Although if it's a standard road car I don't see a problem with using the recommended Elf stuff. I use the Fusch titan race stuff in my track 172 that was recommended by Oil Man but I change my oil fairly regular myself anyway being mainly a track car probably every 6 months which in that time I might do 6 or 8 track days and maybe 1000 road miles in the 6 months sometimes less sometimes more. But for the cost of Oil and a filter I'm not fussed might be a little OTT but I don't mind lol

Yes, there are better oils. But the real question is - do you need them? for a daily road car, no, for a track car, probably not, for a race car then probably yes.

I've gone from using £15 a litre Castrol Edge Professional in my Volvo to £5 a litre GSF car parts oil (bought a 20l drum). Even if I change it twice as regular it will cost me less so i'm happy with that. The new oil still meets the specifications set out by Volvo so it's unlikely to be a problem.

I'd also imagine if you were to contact Renault Wolverhampton (the seller on the above link) you could get it cheaper as they are a trader on here.

You'll be no worse off using that and changing twice a year, than you would spending £50+ on Fuchs Titan Race.

No need to be changing more than once a year or every 12k unless it's not a road car or highly modified.

That oil is OE oil, so completely fine to use at those intervals.

After my Mondeo started dirtying the oil and sounding a little 'rougher' I went away from GSF oil despite it meeting the Ford specs. I heard a rumour that it was recycled oil but then alot of stuff out there is. Yes it has done 300k but I have owned it since 100k. The fact that the oil is staying cleaner even that this mileage is saying something.

I tend to put in Halfords stuff on trade which seems fine or Mobil 1 5W30 :).
