superturbos are the way forward to cmply with eu regs.
all engines will be downsized but replaced with a small supercharger and a larger turbocharger.
supercharger to allow increased power down the rev range when the turbs are winding up,
im going for 5 years before all cars are superturbod max.

doubt theyll turbo charge a 197. Spoke to a renault sales man, He reckons they wont as it would clash with the meggy 225 market.

They won't make the Clio 197 faster than a Megane 225 otherwise we'd all go for the cheaper Clios.

But what they could do is make a 'super Clio' like they did with the V6 or just move the range upwards so the 197 gets faster and so does the Megane.

The performance is all reflected by the prices, for example -

182 bhp - £14k
225 bhp - £20k
255 bhp - £26k

They'll just adjust it so it goes Twingo, Clio, Megane in that order price wise and performance wise.

Clio turbo 1.2 is coming later in the year, they are talking ready for september registration !! Officially released by Renault directors yesterday. Priced at just over £11,000. More bhp than the current 1.4 and more torque than the current 1.6
Not cheap but a bloody quick 1.2.

I believe there is little or no chance of a turbo on the renaultsport clio range
