Dephaser pulley failing? can it?

  clio 182
Now then, along with the 1000's of other issues with my clio it seems the dephaser is making a tapping noise almost like the sound of a deisal engine when its warm. It has only started making this noise for 2 days but obv it is a issue that need resolving quickly i know. Basicly what im trying to say is can i put the work off for a month ( car gets driven 4 mile aday ) or am i at risk of damaging other parts??

cheers

it's can't "fail" just by becoming noisy. Only failure I've ever seen was due to what I can only assume was someone fitting the oil blanking cap on the pulley with a 6 foot scafold pole, and managed to shear the threaded lugs that hold it together. I've seen them be noisy for 40k before and no further damage occured.
