decat option?

got my 172 ff 52 plate, just wondering about the pro's and cons to fitting decat pipe.

Will i have uneven/bad idle and poor running below 4k revs?

I've heard a few different stories etc

anyone got a write-up etc

It'll be fine. Mine is a 52 plate cup, and i've ran a decat for nearly two years off and on lol.

Pro.... makes it rev more freely, feels better
Con.... swapping it every year but thats about it......

so i won't ahve any running issues with the lambda sensors etc?

well i havent, dont think anyone has? You 'may' get the toxic emmissions warning light on, but the car still runs fine. Your car will be the same as mine with two lambda probes. I have the one closest to the downpipe fitted, and the second one still connected, but not screwed into the pipe. I have blanked off the hole, and taped up the sensor under the car. My toxic light has never come on.

as above ive got the front one connected but the second one screwed in n the connecter disconnected n taped outto the way, it makes a difference mate, just picks up lot lot better.

Just disconnect the second sensor and you'll have no problem ie don't connect the wiring up.

doesn't the second sensor tell the ecu what fueling/mixture to use. i thought it will lean/richen depending on sensor readings.

not sure mate, the mpg is certainly no worse

For first few mins on start up runs lumpy, after that runs fine.

Much better with the decat fitted.
