Dash support bar / frame

  Ph2 Clio 172
so i asked this in the interior section, but been advised to ask in here

Does the metal frame inside the dash actually need to be kept to brace the steering column mount?

Ive cut away some of the passenger side, just keeping the bits the lower dash mounts on. I notice the drivers side section i have left weighs quite a deceptive amount so is obv quite well made

Has anyone done away with it?

Thinking further.. Will stitch welding the dash mount bracket on the shell be of any advantage?
