Thought id introduce myself and the new daily. I usually drive a Subaru Hatch 2.0d which is nice and comfy and mapped to 211bhp but of late iv got an oil leak, its a nightmare to start and a few other bits need doing like brakes all round and a rear wheel bearing. Ill also be Front mounting it whilst its off the road.

So whilst thats of the road i bought my self a little clio dci purely for cheap tax and great MPG. I ended up buying a family owned black DCi 65 which came with a nice list of things to do before i would actually use it. Once i got it to the unit i took some photos of it before hand.

Whilst driving it it had a terrible clicking noise when turning left. The previous owner had said that they thought it was a inner tie rod but after further investigation i found a snapped passenger side spring.

So had a quick look in the for sale section and saw some 40mm apex springs. Not to everyones taste but had them on my cup and didnt find them that bad. So got the passenger one fitted but then got called out so had to stop.

Iv also bought 2 new droplinks, oil filter, oil, pollen filter (as these never get changed), a 2nd hand sunroof as it was easier than trying to remove all the tape residue. Iv got most of the crap off the roof from the last repair which underneath the tape was a sh*t load of silicone which stevie wonder obviously did.

Ill also be collecting a full sports kit just to tart it up a bit and then its just a case of driving it round til the subaru is fixed. At least i might make a little profit when i come to sell it.

Thanks Dan. Comments welcome

The sunroof was horrendous lol, altho it did stop the leak so i suppose if it works lol. Iv now removed the sunroof and most of the sticky residue and silicone from the roof. Bought another sunroof that i will seal myself and bolt back together.

Had some time these past few days so did a bit more. Friday i managed to wangle a day off work so set out for a 6hr round trip upto Easington (near durham) to collect some sports bumpers, wings, skirts and lights. Got back and could'nt be bothered to do anymore.

Today (saturday) headed down to the garage to crack on. I cleaned up most of the silicone explosion that had happened on the roof then sorted out the new new sunroof, i also removed the headlining to make refitting the sunroof alot easier as i was able to use my gun. Once i had put a ran round the ages with the silicone gun i set to reffitng and had it all in within 10mins.

Next up i had a lot of engine movement when pulling off so took the dogbone off to have a look. Safe to say it was knackered. 172k original by the looks of it.

Also while there i fitted the drivers spring, pollen filter, air filter and gave it an oil and filter change. Whilst underneath i noticed a sping on the gearbox that looks out of place, hopefully someone can shed some light as to whats wrong.

Quick update.

Subaru died a death. The dreaded diesel crank failure 😧

So the Clio is now in daily use and is lapping up the miles. Finally the sports kit except the skirts (will be doing when I get some time). I also fitted a new numberplate light as the original was dire and these are so cheap.

The wheels look absolutely lost in the front arches so have bought some 25mm spacers that bolt to the hub so just need to fit them to.

Iv also been offered a complete rear beam from a 172 cup. Is it worth fitting and will ot help the rear wheels fit the arches a bit better?

Comments welcome.

Looks better oh don't waste you time on the rear beam just put 10m spacers on the rear

Finally back on my feet and able to get about now after being rushed into hospital to have some work done on my knee. Lateral and Medial meniscus repair plus a scrape and removal of dead muscle and tissue. Currently having physio and ACL rehab. If this doesnt work its either acl rebuild or maybe even a full knee reconstruction :disrelieved::disrelieved::disrelieved:

Anyway car was feeling sorry for itself and needs some work.
Saturday i changed the discs and pads on the front, both droplinks, added 25mm bolt to hub spacers, a spring clip for the gearbox plus a new gearbox mount to reduce the play.
