Creaking Noise from 172

Hi, I have a MK2 172 which I have had for about 6 months now. Its an absolutly cracking car but over the last few days I have noticed a really annoying crekaing soound coming form it.

It only happens when pulling away in first and even then it doesnt always do it and also when you put the brakes on at low speed.

Has anyone else had this problem or know of a cure???

It is something to do with the engine mounts mate, I experienced it on my cup - You need to take it to Renault to get them to change them. It is just because the engine in these cars rocks alot on the mounts - You can just leave it, but would take it in for peace of min as your still in warranty anyway!

That is the EXACT problem I have - and Ive had my 172 about 5 months now.

I took it in to Renault, and they changed something on the suspension, but its still doing it - as you say, only at low speeds when pulling away and braking - and not all the time.

It will have to go back to the garage again at some point...

Oh dear sounds like you have a nonse for a mechanic working on your car at that garage - My garage kept the car until I was happy with it, Took engineers out in the car to show them the noise about 5 different times..

Ive actually just taken it over about 10 speed bumps near to where I work at lunchtime and it sounds like it possibly could be the suspension, its really evident on the drivers side.

Do you know what they did to yours at the dealership as I dont have much confidence in them repairing it properly!!

My front right strut did creak a bit too, where it was rubbing on the suspension mount, but this only happened on full lock, could be that mate, Dont know the exact problem - you could try ringing renault Tonbridge as they fixed the problem on my car, see if they can tell you,

Not really, my car knowledge isnt great! I think they replaced the top mounts.

Normally Mike172sport works on my car, but he was unable to this time - Ill make sure I wait till hes free next time!

My cars been in to Renault so much lately though Im going to leave it a little while.

Mine does it when I get in or out, and Im no fat lad. Been into Renault 100s of times. They always say its suspension mounts. Given up now.
