common problems - i have seached

ive searched the forum (60 pages) with no joy

it would start in the mornings and then i would leave it in work until lunchtime then i would drive it somewere 10mins away and after sitting for about 30 mins i would come out and it wouldn't start. I would come back that nite and it would start fine

it also used to rev at about 200 revs when you started it and the accelerator was unresponsive but all you had to do was turn the ignition off and turn it on again and it would start

renault have diagnosed it as a throttle housing (do they mean throttle body) and wiring loom (on clio forum they touched on looms referred to as
spark plug looms ... maybe referring to Ht leads just?

all this at a cost of 650 ? (450 parts)

any views ? seems to be common problems but no writeups.

is it thte throttle body they refer too ? and will a clean with brake and clutch cleaner be sufficent ?

i believe it will be throttle body and top enging loom. usually loom is chaft at ingection cover and throttle body will be clogged up slightly

but any 'how too's' for this renew loom/remove + clean throttle body ? are these easy problems to fix ?

does it have Idle Control Valve ?

What car is your's? IE 1.2 16V 2002 model

I'd guess you have a 1.2 16V new shape clio if so then there a load of potential problem most common for this sort of problem would be a dirty throttle body and/or a TDC sensor problem. There both easty and cheap to fix the dirty throttle body Renault don't bother fiddling with they just replace them at great cost but they cna be cleaned up.

any knowledge about the loom in question.

how does the throttle body attach ? when i get it off how much do i need to strip it down ?

regardng the TDC sensor. were is it located and is there anyway of diagnosing it before replacement ?

thanks

I've got a guide here I'll see if if shows tomorrow how to do this.

You've got to take the manifold off as the throttle body faces backwards.

TDC sensor is between the gearbox and the engine at the top. You can diagnose it I've got to get to sleep though will write up more info tomorrow.

thanks, the more detailed the better.

need to know how to remove manifold, throttle body + renew loom + diagnos TDC sensor + clean all appriopiate parts

and what tools needed (ai need to bring some home from work, dont have many at home yet)

thanks

TDC sensor 200~270Ohm at 25 degrees its a variable type.
Pm me your emaill address I'll send you the file thats the easiest way.
