Comma Gearbox Oil...Can anyone advise me?

  200T & 172 Project
Hi all,

I was wanting to do a gear oil change this weekend due to clunky gear changes but only having the idea today only leaves me to buy from shops not the internet which would have been better. Anyways the only 75w80 I found for sale round me is Halfords own make EP 75w80 GL-4 (its made by Comma).

Can anyone tell me if this meets the cars requirements please?

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_214019_langId_-1_categoryId_255220#tab1

Thanks
Tom

It's fine but as it's a GL4 it won't last forever so change it after a few years.

Just been doing some more research about this oil and I am not sure but it may be Mineral oil? been looking on Commas own site and only one I can find there 75w80 is Mineral....can that be used in the 182 box?

Mick if your still hanging around i'd appreciate your view. :)

Yes as it meets GL4+ but either a synthetic or a mineral will do the job (however synthetic are a little more stable than mineral oils and have a higher film strength).

Halfords list it as "EP75W-80" which IF a Comma EP75W-80 is designed for use in Renault & Peugeot/Citroen boxes. It's also listed as a mineral GL4 rather than a GL4+ but it should still be okay in your JC5

Comma EP75W-80 gear oil
