Clio Sounds Like A Chinook (video inside)

  Looking....
Hi guys
Driving home from work and the car suddenly thinks it's a Chinoock helicopter.
Belts and dephaser were done almost 12 months ago by a specialist and to be honest sounds a lot worse than a diesel so asuming it's not dephaser related but I'm no mechanic.
Haven't had a chance to look and probably won't until Sunday evening now but if someone can give me a heads up on what I should be checking it be great fully received.
Cheers

Sorry hopefully works now

Definitely spat a plug out. Do a search for timesert, also helicoil but timesert is the better option.

Cheers guys.
I've had the car a year now, done 10k in that time. There is a receipt from 2013 for plugs from the previous owner.
Funnily enough orded oil, filter and plugs from rpd, just not had time to service the car yet and they are sat on the kitchen table.
Asuming by mentioning time sert/heli coil, the thread is going to be kaput and it ain't going to be as simple as popping new plugs in? What sort of money am I looking at for repair?
Cheers

In the morning take the upper inlet manifold off - there is a guide for spark plugs that mentions how to do this. you will then be able to look down the spark plug hole and see what damage the threads have. It is likelt to have damamged the threads as the spark plug will have been blown out of its hole takign the threads with it. You will also need new HT leads - or atleast the one affected.
Timesert or helicoil would probably cost up to £100 to have done. @Alistair14 - what do you reckon the cost is?

Thanks for the reply.
I've done the plugs on my last clio and had this inlet off for paint before so confident with that side of things.
Reading up and it seems there are mixed reviews with heli coils but the cheaper option. Time sert will need the head to come off and belts doing again.
With the age, milage (138k) of the car is it worth the time, effort and money to get a time sert fitted?

Timesert is a permanent fix mate. Helicoil may be troublesome if not done correctly.

Time sert plus labour for me was 145 including new spark plug when mine went
If it's dropped a spark it'll be new alarm, ht leads and time sert, I'm saying about 150-200 all in, may be a bit off with price but it's and estimate

Yep!
They re-tapped it, tdc and a hoover(I know) and then put the time sert in :)

My car blew a plug out completely and 1/2 the threads where fucked
It was only 145 from this garage and a lad near the area had some spare ht leads luckily

Yeah I've already got new plugs and a spare set of leads & coil pack so help keep cost down.
This is what's left of my lead.

Most garages will do it, I had to hunt one down at 8am on a Monday (busiest time for them) .. Luckily I found one!

Was up in the lakes with @optical and the lads when it happened! Haha
