Clio 200 Cup 2009 64,000 Miles Gearbox

Purchased the car around 3 weeks ago, I was told and have all the documents to prove that the Gearbox was reconditioned and third gear replaced.

Everything was spot on, full service history every 8,000 Miles, all paper work of parts etc the car has ever got.

Now the problem, 2nd gear cold or warm jumps like a kangaroo. I know this is a fault but after the box being worked on and new parts etc I except more. Phone the dealer and they are going to look into the box again, if so replace with new box. Should this have been done first of all? I'd of thought so.

What's people's thoughts?

The kangarooing isn't to do with the gearbox. It's the cold map limiting power so you can't hammer it from cold.

Iirc there's a software patch to somewhat fix this. May be worth mentioning

It even does it when the car is warm tho. Comes and goes? Would this still effect it?

Doesn't sound like the box, more like the mapping as Scott said.
Do you have a de-cat or aftermarket exhaust/manifold?
200's have a horrible hesitation or flat spot that mainly appears in second between 2/3k revs.
Does that sound like it?

My 200 does exactly the same . 8 times out if 10 it will kangaroo at 2krpm most noticeable in second gear. It makes pulling away quickly hard. I tend to be ready with the clutch when it happens and stick it on to 3rd gear. Like the others say it needs a remap. I haven't got round to remapping mine and have learned to live with it.

Middle box removed, but the issue was happening before removing. Booked in today to check the box and will also say about the mapping issue as well.

100% mapping. Those mods do nothing but make the issue worse, until you have the car mapped for them.

I'd imagine that's voided, because of the mods that are causing the issue in the first place.
If they won't cover it, I'd book the car in at either EFI (Runcorn) or RST (Leeds) to have the car correctly mapped.
Both Chris and Paul are magicians when it comes to this stuff. You'll leave wondering why you didn't do it sooner.

Issue was happening before the mods. Garage was informed. It only happens the odd time but lately it's happening more often.
Will see what happens this evening.
