Clio 182 pinging/pinking: remap in Surrey?

Hello all,

My 182 pings/pinks badly at times, even in a low gear at high revs. I've replaced the knock sensor with a new, genuine Renault part and now increase the octane rating (allegedly) with a Millers Oils product. I've had teh car 2 years.

My thoughts are that it's always done this, but I didn't pick up on it for a while. The car is garaged and just gets used for autosolos (and soon sprints). I've tried the solutions I can deal with and now feel that perhaps it's previously been remapped (badly) and needs a session on a rolling road with someone who knows what they're doing.

All thoughts welcome, including who I could go to with a rolling road; I'm in Guildford, Surrey.

Quick question how do you know its leaning out in low gears?

What are the symptoms, does the car idle rough or misfire at high revs?

I can hear in pinging at high revs. I don't belt it when it's cold but don't notice it pinging so I had wondered if it could be mixture. It revs fine when warm, no missing, though I do wonder if it's hesitant on pick up. Can pinging be mixture related?

If its been mapped on 99 ron fuel, and you use 95 ron, this would cause pinking, if you change back to 99 it should be fine after a tank or two of fuel.

I’d imagine if he’s using additives he would already be using the highest RON fuel possible.

Additives go off after a while lowering the octane, he only uses the car occasionally.

I'm afraid o don't think that's the issue. Fresh 99RON fuel and new additive. I think I need to get it on a rolling road with some one who can remap it. Any one know such an expert in the Surrey area?

Is it detting or engine noisy/knocking ? Id expect it to have went bang a while ago if its been detting for a long time.

Do you know it's been remapped? Is the cold idle still rubbish?

Have the injectors been replaced?? There's loads of cheap rubbish on eBay that could cause you issues.
