Well, its probably very close, but seeing as the mk1 is lighter I would expect it to stop slightly quicker than the mk2

Also it really would depend on what tyres you got.. I would imagine you could stop a lot quicker without the standard contis on. although having said that if both mk1 & mk2 had the same tyres on the mk1 should stop quicker.. that being said there are a lot of changes between the mk1 & 2 with over 50% of the parts being changed.. so who knows..



Either way the stopping power in the 172s is a real plus.. outbrakes some ferraris and porches from 100mph. I have almost been rear ended 3 times (in a 2 week period I might add) cause I stopped really quickly at traffic lights.

Well, Ive driven all 3 variants of the 172/Cup family and the mk1 has the best brakes IMO

Like you said tyres play a big part in this...
