clio 16V steering problem

hello there, can anyone help me out, i ve got a 93 valver thats done 83K and lowered all round by 50 to 60mm, the problem ive got is that its not stable on the road, it feels very loose, i ve had the alignement done and also changed the offside ball joint, i ve checked udernieth the car and all looks good (bushes etc), has anyone had the same problem or have they got a solution ?

If theres a lot of dead travel in the steering it probably wants the column welding.
