Clio 1.4 " 98 MK 2 problem !

My clio MK2 - 1.4 RT (1998) Manual {30,000 miles } starts ok first time, but tries to conk out at idle.
When you put your foot down it stutters misfires hesitates---keep pumping accelerator and it picks up and will run ok at 3000 or 4000 rpm + .
I replaced all four ignition coils and plugs, but still the same.
Kwik fit said the Cat.converter needed replaced. It sounds like there may be fumes escaping from that area, but they will tell you anything for $$$.
Do you think its the CAT. or maybe the ECU or some sensor?

Do I need a temp. sender as well as temp. sensor ?

Check the throttle body is clean also check the plugs idle speedo control value and coolent temp gauge (also known as temp gauge) also MAP sensor.
