CL Pad Detached From Backing Plate

  M135i and the shed
Just after some advice from the motorsport/renault specialist lot on CL RC5+ pads. Today I fitted my Performance Friction 330mm discs to the R26 and when removing the calipers i noticed that two of my Carbon Lorraine RC5+ pads had detached from their backing plates. They're only 4k miles old and have loads of life left in them so was surprised to see this.

Two questions. Does this happen alot with CL pads? And can you still use them in this condition, given that the pads are held firmly in the caliper anyway? My gut feeling is that I can't use them but would appreciate the opinion of someone more 'in the know'.

I wouldn't use them but would be contacting the seller to report this in the view of getting a replacement set.

Right, good to know gents. Will have them out today and get something different thrown in there.

Cheers for that Fred.

I personally think they f**ked up some of their first batches of the RC5+. It was a new compound and I think something went wrong in either their quality control or the techniques they were initially using. Who did you buy off? If us then please return them and I will take this further! Do not let yourself get fobbed off. Its not all of them as I've sold lots without issue, but i'd bet all these renault ones are off the same batch or from roughly the same time period.

Thanks for your input. I got them from KTEC and they were fitted in September last year but have done very little mileage really. They certainly have plenty of meat left on them. Will email some pictures to KTEC tomorrow morning. I don't really want to shall out for another set of pads if I can avoid it given the prices for the Megane!
