ChatGPT (AI)

My mate is an ex dev, changed to designer some years back. However, he’s at an advertising business and his job is literally promoting AI to generate changes to components now. Getting better at his job is managing to achieve the output with less prompts.

He has actually embraced his ‘new job’ but it’s a totally different thing.

With regards to peer reviewing the code, he had said similar. s**t bloated code, no one actually understanding how it works because its solutions are iterative and it never solves the whole solution, just the latest problem and tries again.

That is really depressing to read, fella.

I don’t use it at all currently, there’s a lot of my job it can’t help with, but even for presentations etc. I’m a quick computer user. I find it so much faster to put stuff together myself than to use AI and then spend time tweaking it.

I feel a bit annoyed I can’t get on with it, but at the same time, I just don’t think it’s good enough.

We have quite long conversations about this stuff now, (sad I know). But the most interesting thing to me was that ALL of the companies are running loss leading pricing at the moment.

With how expensive his subscription at work is, (and they’re already putting limits on tokens per day) if it goes up (some estimates are 5x), it’s genuinely going to be cheaper to employ people again 😂😂😂

Take the job, build your own AI agent to manage those 12, take the money and do something else with your time? :)

Yeah, you'd think that would be a good strategy. However, when enquiring further, the successful applicant is purely there to review the code, report, and feed back to the AI team that run the agents. Yep, they have a separate team(s) managing the agents. The role is literally babysitting 12 AI agents, reviewing, and feeding back to someone else. Just to have a human in the loop. Mind numbing. The fact that, as the reviewer and senior human in the loop, you don't actually control and guide those agents directly is just crazy.
