Changing Just The Bearing In The Top Mount

..some of you might have seen a separate thread regarding some front end issues i'm having at the moment.

This may or may not be related so thought it warranted a new post.

I'm thinking whilst its in bits I'll check the top mounts as well.

..and based on some other threads i've read it sounds like its the actual bearing that causes the problem, rather than spend £60 a side on parts that might not solve the problem is it ok to just change the bearings?

and it look like there are two types..

and

which would I need for a 53 plate 172 ff?

any help appreciated :)

The 2nd item is the bearing you want looking at mine when I got the full kit, I'd say it depends on the condition/age/mileage of the rest of the top mount, I'd be inclined refresh the lot in one go but you could try just the bearings on their own, a trader would be able to give you a better idea.

Thanks Russ..

I'm going to be doing front shocks, wishbones, disks & pads all round so cant stretch to £60+ a side for the full top mount kits at the mo..

I don't think the top mounts are that bad, It doesn't knock or cluck when its being driven.. it's only 52k miles at the moment

But, makes a few weird noises on full lock when I'm pulling on/off the drive hence why I thought doing the bearings might help as a temporary measure?
