My only worthy note would be a mint 205 GTI that I struggled to sell. Ended up getting £1100 for it, probably now worth £8000.

Same for me. Ive had quite a few 205's and 2 of them were Steel Grey metallic. Both were very tidy and pretty much original/standard, a 1.6 and a 1.9. I sold them both on separate occasions (8 yrs apart) do do more rallying. Pretty sure they were both sold for about £1600 each. Same condition now easy 8k+
I miss those cars.

Probably worth stating what year you sold said car to give an idea of how much you’ve fucked up. I sold my 205 in 2010 so it’s probably gone up nearly a grand a year.

Replaced it with a 172 that I only had a year I think I sold that in 2011 for about £2500, so their prices haven’t gone anywhere.

Had a mk1 Fiesta track car which had a 2ltr zetec in. Not worth much back in 2010-2011 when owned as it wasn’t road legal, just needed minor jobs for an MoT test. Now fiestas have gone up in price regaledess of condition!

On this note I am not selling my E34 anytime soon seeing as that has gone up in value!

Corolla GT coupe
Lancia delta integrale x2
205 gti x3
Alfa romeo Alfasud sprint
Alfa romeo Alfasud x2

I'll no doubt regret selling my M3 and imprezas too.

Its much better to have owned them though rather than just sitting wasted in a garage.
Each one was used as it should....

Sold my Integrale in 99 for £6k less than I paid. Even at the bottom of the scale it would now be worth 50% more than I paid.
Sold my last R5 GT Turbo 6 years ago. It was in need of some welding and a good tidy up but drove well enough. I buckled under the pressure of a nagging wife and someone who wanted to buy it and let it go for bugger all. That's the one I regret most as I've never seen an electric blue one since.

I had 1 of 50 RHD e36 M3 GTs. Used it two times on track and then it spun a shell on one of the big ends. Sat in my garage for years as I saved up to get it fixed. This never happened as we moved house, got married etc. Ended up breaking it and selling the shell for £300.

Logged on eBay at the end of 2016 and search for M3 GTs to find my old one had just sold................ for £17k!

I’d love anything RS Cosworth but for the money they are fetching these days I’d rather buy something else like a Porsche for example.

That's exactly what I did when I sold the white one.
They still look stunning and nothing beats the kick in the back from a big boost YB, but to drive they really do feel old these days. If I were to have anything ford RS these days it would be another MK2 focus RS .

With the prices of a good williams now I know I could add 10k onto what I sold it for...

The thing is who can actually store these cars for 10 years until they become worth the money...

TVR Tamora - £10500 paid. £12k sold. £25k now.
TVR T350T - £16500 Paid. £25k sold. £35k now.

Then the big bear miss. When I had the T350 I was going to trade it for a 1987 911 (930) Turbo. It was £27k and the Mrs at at time said I was mental. Last year the exact same car sold at Silverstone auctions for £89k and it had another 40k miles on it. f**k.

Bought my Lotus Elan' Sprint' in 1972 for £1,500, sold in 1982 for £2,000 (and had a lot of fun meanwhile but family forced sale as they say),

I know it's a lot of years (and a lot of regrets) later.

but now £35k if you can find a good original one.

I also had a Porsche 928 S4 which was pretty much perfect and l struggled to get £8,000 in 2011. It made £7900
The guy who bought it from me spent £3,000 on it and then put it back on Ebay where it went for £4,000.
I knew that one day the market would find these and prices have tripled since then.
But what a money pit of a car to own. Everything cost £1,000.
Fast though. 5 litre V8 with 310bhp.

Who would have known the way values were going to go! I wonder if it is sustainable. It happened in the early 1990’s and then came crashing down.

R5 GT Turbo sold for £1,000 would now be at least £5,000 (if not quite a bit more)

CRX Mk2 sold for £1,000 now worth about £3,000-4,000.

Basically any hot hatch from the 80's/early 90's is worth a lot more than they were 10 years ago :(

Car hoard like me and you wont have a problem like that in the future ?Ive sold a couple of cheap cars in the past, cut up a couple of Renault 11 turbos/gt turbos But they were rotten as pears/crashed so not a massive loss.

I used to own a 4x4 saph cossie replica that is still kicking about in Ireland i believe reg is K723SCN. Its xr4x4 running gear with 3.1twin turbo & supercharged v6. I bought it cheap needing loads of work for £500 - sold for £1000 after a few months of pain fixing it. It popped up for sale on ebay for 10k iirc a couple of years ago - with the current ford tax and rocking a lot of cosworth parts its probably worth more now.

Im itching to buy a mint clio 172 cup or trophy to add to the collection at the moment as i predict them to be worth a bit in ten years - could use it and enjoy/keep in mint nick, we will see. The mrs almost jumped on that low mileage sunflower ph1 172 that come up on ebay for £4k the other day but sold straight away.

  A special one.
My old boss (who's still a good mate) bought a Porsche 930 turbo LE in the early 90's for £50k. Now around £250k
Its funny, when i was working on them id think nothing about taking one out to buy my lunch or home for the night.

Also had an E30 325i touring kicking about home for a while as we used it as a donor car for an engine swap into a Triumph 2000. Knowing what I know now I don’t know why that E30 was chosen as it had an LSD and everything and needed only a small bit of work to make good again. Would have been worth it knowing the value now of them. Ended up scrapping the shell and I think the LSD went with it.

It’s all happened since about 2010 when the interest rate dropped to nothing.

I turned down a Ferrari Testarossa at £42,000 in 2011 and look at those now. At the time they were considered a bit vulgar and were not loved.

Is that your mum?

My mum's ex partner had his dad's RS1600i in the garage the whole time they were together. It never moved in the 10 years I knew him. Probably still there now, and worth quite a bit!

That would be worth some dosh now, Even rolling shells needing work are fetching 4 figures.
