Car won't stop revving

  Clio 172 Ph1
Just had the garage fit a new starter motor and add an extra mount for my back box as it was rattling the whole car. Now I have noticed this only marginally in the past that sometimes when driving my car would rev a little bit nothing amazing when I drive or am in idle. Since having it in the garage I will pull up to a roundabout and the throttle is stuck on never pushing more then 3000rpm. I took a look at the throttle cable and it seemed fine if anything a little slack and I quickly took the air intake thingy off where my samco breathing hose goes too and gave it a clean and checked to see if it is shutting off properly. The sensors seem fine so does mean a new throttle cable?

It's worth taking it to a specialist on here and letting them looking at it. When was it last done? A few will just re-adjust the timing but if they're doing that they might aswell stick a new belt on!

Mine use to fluctuate on idle, I had a vacuum leak and the ECU couldn't find base air intake so was overcompensating

my phase 1 at the moment has a similar issue the throttle cable is loose and is sticking open at 2k... i know this as when it does it if i lift the accelerator pedal up it goes back down.... also look at your maf sensor as i left this unplugged accidentally once after doing the plugs and it idled miles high. hope this helps

Does your car have the engine cover on? Over tightening the bolts can cause the inlet the raise slightly causing a leak. Learnt from experience :)
