Can the huge surround be removed?

Can the blue coloured trim be removed to be painted?

dash off, dials out, plastic front off, trim off

^this, there's a guide on how to remove the top part of the dash, it's pretty simple from there removing the dials etc. be carefull though as the trim is fragile!

No it cannot be painted properly, I tried when changing my dials, it's actually glued to the black bit that it's attached to, any painting attempt will look proper pikey and end up a mess, or you'll snap it trying to remove it, you cannot get just the blue bit off, I actually had a silver one that I was hoping to color code but in the end I just bought this blue one from a 172.
