Cambelt changes

  BG Clio 182
Right, I know there are millions of these threads but I want a bit of piece of mind haha. I have a local garage who are pretty serious when it comes to taking car, lorry engines and all manners of amazingly complex things to bits and putting them back together. I need my cambelt doing and aux belt and will get the dephaser done as well obviously! They said they've done a few before and he seemed to know a fair bit about the car's in general. He said he uses genuine parts etc and that he's confident he can do it properly.

The question is, if any problems are going to occur with a wrongly set up cambelt and new dephaser etc, when will they show? when the engine is fired? If I rag it about? In a few weeks or a month? A year? Cheers guys.

  A special one.
Does he have all of the correct Renault locking tools???

If not then don't use them.

Yeah I kinda thought the same it's just the cost really when you weigh up the fact of what happens if they have someone there doing it who's say only been doing it a year and doesn't really have much experience haha I've had that before!

Hmm I think to be fair he'd use them I haven't really enquired, do you think it's worth a looksie then or just straight to RS tuning? Thanks for the replies ")

Personally I'd take it to RS Tuning to - They will do the job right using the correct tools and that's what matters. Incorrectly timed cars don't show up as faulty unless they're massively wrong yet a few minutes of inaccuracy can royally rape the cars power overall.

Experience counts for a lot with belt changes on these units and having the correct, genuine Renault tooling reinforces this but it's your money and your car.

Yeah good advice mate I'll take it there pal.

  PH1 loads of boost!
Don't go to a local garage. Use a specialist every time for timing belt.

Come see us in Durham, clioturbo.co.uk. Andyrg is the cheapest specialist in the north.

Honestly go to a specialist mate, my 172 went through 2 engines and a rebuild due to some asshole thinking he knew what he was doing, luckily I wasn't paying for the work, but it was in and the garage for pretty much two month, till I told him to stick his work up his ass and sent it to SC autos, and it's was worth every penny
