Cambelt 2002 Ph2 1.6 16v

  2002 Clio 1.6 16v
Are these as expensive to replace as the 1*2. Just mines done 55k and is 6 years old so wanting to get it done!

Is it something a good garage can do, or does it require renault or a renault specialist?

What kind of price am I looking at including parts or would it be cheaper to get the parts myself?

Finally has anyone used a garage round the Scunthorpe area that are good and reasonably priced?

Cheers

Mark

iirc the garage will need the tool to do it

i used a local garage to do mine, a renault specialist would be a good call too, i wouldnt recommend renault from what iv heard

my 1.2 16v was £300, so id say roughly £300+

I paid £160 for my 1600 cambelt to be done, that was'nt with the aux belt so both belts I'd reckon £250-300 buddy.

Very similar job and just as irretating as the RS clios. You need the cam/crank locking tools as said too.

Oh joy, £300 for peace of mind!

I've done a cam belt on an 8v Mk 2 Golf GTi but I think I will leave it to the Pros like you say I will make sure they have the proper locking tools to do the job, or at least some kind of warranty in case it goes wrong!

Am I better letting the garage buy the parts in or should I get them myself, also just to confirm what parts should be replaced, obviously cam belt and tensioner and by the sound of things the aux belt any other bits?

Cheers

You want the cambelt and aux belt kits which include all the tensioners and idlers to change, you also want the core plugs that go in the end of the head as they have to be prised out to lock the cams.
