bumpy ride with new springs??

I'm in the process of ordering some lowering springs for my car. Popped down my local garage to ask how much he would charge. I real nice bloke who does stuff for really cheap who fixes all my little problems at the garage said that the ride on a car that has been lowered is awful. He said when you drive it normally, its very bumpy. He admitted that its lower to the ground, thus a lower centre of gravity, helping it to handle better at higher speeds.

But is it really that bad and bumpy when driven normally.

Basic pros and cons would be appreciated.

It depends what you want,usually springs arent to bad but a full spax set up will nock your fillings out your head

If you just get springs they won't be matched to the standard (I presume) dampers.

This can mean that they are mismatched and the ride can get a bit, er, 'choppy' lol as the dampers can't deal with the increased hardness rating of the springs and the fact they are lowered.

The best bet is to get matched springs and dampers from one manufacturer, as a kit perhaps, or buying the springs and dampers from different places depending on budget/taste

Having had both (i.e. springs on standard dampers and then upgrading to a full kit) the difference is night and day
