Budget OBD2 reader that works?

  Cliosport 182 FF
Good morning all... I have an abs problem that I'm trying to track down (only gives an error when the car is started from cold). I bought a cheapo Bluetooth obd2 reader from Amazon and along with some android software it reads all kinds of info like revs, vacuum etc... But not error codes! It says there's no codes stored in the ECU. I'm blaming the cheap odb2 reader, are there any out there that anyone has good experiences of?
