Anyone got one? Just wonder if they are worth getting or whether is easier to just buy a wireless router with a normal provider.

Cheers folks, will just sign up with Plusnet at the new house then and get a router. Thought it might have been a dressed up gimick

not a dressed up gimmick, wish people would stop dumbing it down, is a base station for a wireless phone for VOIP calls including your own new BT number so that it rings when someone calls you on it, no need for a pc to be on and free calls through it to.

Also self upgradable with new features and will also support the video on demand system BT are releasing soon, it does have a lot more features than a normal router, just not all of them are currently being used.

I have one.

but will it actually give the tv service through the hub? or will it be a case of getting a box thingy so you can pick up the picture???

Wasnt dumbing it down, i was asking for advice on them. It sounds like a gimmick if it was just a router that did voip.

Anything else it does?

you need a bt vision box which will have to connect into the home hub via ethernet to control the bandwidth available to the vision box so the two go in unison.

wasn't really aiming at you, just others who keep saying its just a router.

as mentioned it will connect to bT vision which is their video on demand broadband service launching in autumn, plus it is able to update without any interaction when new software is available, it is also future proof by also supporting ADSL2 when we move to that by way of a software update.

then the VOIP thing, you can plug a normal dect phone in to it to use it as a VOIP phone to get free calls etc and also you get a free VOIP phone with option3 to make and recieve VOIP calls without the use of a pc, it plugs in like a normal dect phone and you also get a new number so that people can call you on the dect phone form a normal phone etc so is pretty cool in that respect.
