Broken Speedo On mk2 ph1 1.2

right my mate has got a mk2 ph1 1.2 clio and his speedo has stopped working. what do you think it could be?

when he started the car the dial just doesnt move. but if he is moving along and the engine is warm he can turn his engine off and back on and the speedo will kick in.

anyone heard of this problem before?

Yep... have the same with my 172. It is the speed sensor but how easy it is to fix is another matter.

Yeah its not a good idea to turn your engine of when you driving along

Speedo sensor on the gearbox most lilly either its come loose the plug or the sensor broken.
If it doesn't have the gearbox sesnor then its a cable to the dahsd most likly from the ABS syetm is loose check connectros behind the dash.
